Small Animal Care

The small animal portion of our business routinely cares for cats and dogs, but our veterinarians have treated chickens, guinea pigs, chinchillas, ferrets, and pot-bellied pigs.

Small Animal Surgery

The clinic has a surgery room equipped with a heated surgical table, inhalation anesthetic and oxygen machine, IV fluid pumps, machines to monitor a patient’s vitals, and an autoclave for sterilizing surgical instruments. In addition, our fully trained veterinary and technical staff ensures the safest, most efficient procedures for your pet. While your pet is under the effects of anesthesia, he or she is monitored by a professionally trained veterinary technologist. We offer a variety of routine surgeries, including spay and neuter of cats, dogs and rabbits; declaw of the front feet in cats; dewclaw removal in dogs; hernia repair; caesarean sections; vulvoplasty; cystotomy; and ophthalmic procedures, to name a few.

We recommend patients have pre-anesthetic bloodwork done to ensure that liver, kidney, and heart function is healthy and strong enough to withstand the stress of surgery and the effects of anesthesia. In addition, we recommend that all surgery patients have an IV catheter placed and receive intravenous fluids while under anesthesia. This allows a port for direct administration of emergency drugs should a need arise. As well as helps for the animal to flush the chemicals from their system and facilitates a smoother, quicker recovery from anesthesia.

In addition to routine surgical procedures, Dr. Mark Yoder offers canine ACL repair in small breed dogs via the surgical technique of cranial cruciate ligament stabilization.
